Fall Wedding Season Is Just Getting Started: Travel Kits, Touch-Up Truths, and the PR Pitches Worth Answering

I want to correct something I hear constantly this time of year: fall is not the wind-down of wedding season in New York, it’s the peak of it. Manhattan and the Hamptons book solid through December, and for good reason, the light is better, the heat is gone, and nobody’s makeup is melting by cocktail hour.

What’s actually working in skincare right now

Skin transitioning out of summer needs a different kind of prep than skin transitioning into it. I’m seeing more mild dehydration than breakouts right now, which calls for richer moisturizers layered under a lighter SPF than clients were using in July. A client who switched to a heavier night cream two weeks before her October trial had visibly plumper skin at the cheekbone by the day of, which is exactly where highlighter needs somewhere smooth to sit.

The look right now

Fall bridal looks are trending warmer, more bronze and terracotta in the crease, less pink. It photographs beautifully against the season’s light. Technique-wise, I’ve been using cream bronzer under powder rather than instead of it, because it holds through a longer reception without needing a touch-up.

The beauty business

My travel kit for fall is different from my summer kit, less blotting product, more setting spray built for lower humidity, and a compact touch-up kit I hand off to the maid of honor for the reception. Every bride books a trial thinking she’ll remember every instruction, and none of them do by hour eight, so I plan for that instead of hoping otherwise.

The new PR playbook

I’m getting pitched a lot of “cozy season” beauty content right now, most of it generic. The pitches worth answering are the ones tied to something specific I actually do, like touch-up kits or travel-size dupes for my go-to products, not just “fall is here” with a product attached.

The takeaway

If you’re getting married this fall, you’re in very good company, this is the busiest stretch of my year for a reason. Questions about timeline or what to expect from a trial this time of year, drop them in the comments, or look back through the review archive at danilevibeauty.com.
